One month after launch, Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, Z Fold8, and Z Flip8 are showing how Samsung’s Galaxy Z series lineup is changing foldable preferences in the U.S.

Following a strong pre-order period, Samsung is seeing especially high demand for its new Fold designs. Combined purchases of the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra and Z Fold8 in the U.S. are consistently tracking 30% ahead of Z Fold7, which set a pre-order record last year. Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra and Z Fold8 make up roughly 80% of current Galaxy Z series purchases.



Shopper feedback indicates the two Z Fold designs are resonating for distinctly different reasons. Galaxy Z Fold8 shoppers were especially drawn to its thin and light design for greater portability, while also valuing its inner display for multitasking and content that better fills the screen. Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra shoppers preferred its expansive screen, giving them more working space without the need for a separate tablet.

Building on last year’s trend, Galaxy Z Flip continues to win over buyers from other brands. Galaxy Z Flip7 drew more users from competing brands than any previous Galaxy Flip. This generation is going even further, with 30% of Galaxy Z Flip8 buyers switching from competing brands, and most of those buyers are first-time foldable owners.



Galaxy Z Flip continues to be an entry point to the Galaxy foldable experience before they move further into the Galaxy Z series portfolio. More than three times as many Z Flip users are upgrading to Z Fold8 and Z Fold8 Ultra devices compared to Galaxy Z Fold7.

These early purchase trends show more people are finding a foldable experience that works for them.
