We are particularly proud to have received the Partner of the Year – Sustained Excellence Award recognition by the U.S Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) seven times in total since 2013. We are pleased to offer consumers a wide array of ENERGY STAR certified products – with a goal to educate and improve their understanding about how the ENERGY STAR program and the products in their homes, can deliver tangible energy and cost savings. In recognition of ENERGY STAR Day on October 27, 2020, Mark Newton, Senior Director of Corporate Sustainability, had the opportunity to connect with Brittney Gordon, Content Manager at the EPA’s ENERGY STAR program for a Q&A where she offered their insight on sustainability and how companies like Samsung make an impact. When it comes to advancing sustainable environmental progress, Samsung has long understood that one of the key components is investing in youth. Young people have always taken the lead in championing environmental protection, and that is why ENERGY STAR and Samsung have worked together to empower young people with the tools they need to be change agents at any age. One of the best examples of that work is Samsung’s Climate Superstars Challenge. Samsung and ENERGY STAR work together with the National Environmental Education Foundation (NEEF) to provide middle-school age youth with daily activities to raise their awareness of the effects of energy consumption and provide them with strategies for becoming more energy-efficient and environmentally conscious. Annual activities like this one work to build the next generation of environmental activists, and ENERGY STAR is proud to help Samsung empower them with the tools they need to change the world.  What efforts can consumers make to reduce their impact on the environment through energy efficiency? How would the EPA frame Samsung’s level of commitment to environmental protection from a product standpoint to this conscious audience?  Gen Z are the first generation of digital natives, born and raised during a time when the new age of technology continuously introduced new innovations and conveniences that have changed our world.  From social media to tech gadgets, this generation knows technology, but they are also some of the strongest proponents of environmental action. As Gen Z looks to make product purchases with environmental stewardship in mind, they will find that Samsung has well earned its status as an award-winning ENERGY STAR partner, with a catalog of energy-efficient products that are both groundbreaking for their innovation and their climate protection.
