Title: Samsung Addresses the International Trade Commission for the Section 201 Remedy Hearing Publish Date: 10.19.2017 Category: Official Statements On October 19, Whirlpool will ask the International Trade Commission (ITC) to recommend that a 50 percent tariff be imposed on nearly all washer imports to the U.S.  Whirlpool is trying to abuse U.S. trade laws to decrease competition and increase their profits, at the expense of consumers and retailers. If enacted, virtually all washer imports to the U.S. will cease. We hope the ITC will see Whirlpool’s proposal for what it really is – a way to protect their bottom line and their shareholders by excluding competition – and we look forward to presenting our arguments before the ITC. Following today’s hearing we will be posting Samsung’s testimonies to the newsroom.
