Title: Giving Back to the Communities We Serve Publish Date: 10.11.2017 Category: Life@Samsung On Friday, October 13th, Samsung Electronics America employees will mark the company’s third anniversary of Day of Service, a bi-annual event in which all Samsung employees put everyday work aside to dedicate their time to offer service with local charity partners in the communities they live and work. “Samsung is all about innovation, delivering great products to the market and inspiring our customers, but the one thing that defines us is our commitment to giving back to the communities we serve,” said Tim Baxter, President and CEO of Samsung Electronics America. Since its launch in 2014, Samsung employees have given more than 96,000 hours of their time, enthusiasm and knowledge to more than 50 charity partners and their beneficiaries nationwide. Day of Service has become such an important part of Samsung’s culture and broader Samsung Gives employee giving platform that the company actually closes business operations twice a year to mark the occasion. “The Samsung Day of Service is just one of several ways in which we encourage and empower our employees to be active in service, support causes they are passionate about and ultimately choose where and how they make an impact in their local communities,” said Ann Woo, Sr. Director of Corporate Citizenship of Samsung Electronics America. This Friday, over 4,000 Samsung Electronics America employees will give an additional 16,000 service hours to support community needs such as feeding the homeless with Rise Against Hunger, rebuilding communities with Habitat for Humanity, and cleaning up rivers and parks with GrowNYC and other environmentally-focused non-profit groups, among many other activities.
